SOTAX PHARMA SERVICES, a subsidiary of the Swiss-based SOTAX Group, has entrusted IDEC SANTÉ with the turnkey design and construction of a pharmaceutical development and quality control laboratory in Saran (Loiret). Construction of this 2,900 sq m facility, located near Orléans, officially began with the laying of the foundation stone on 11 July, a symbolic event bringing together all the stakeholders involved in the project.
SOTAX, an expert group serving the pharmaceutical industry
Founded in Switzerland in 1973, SOTAX has established itself as a specialist in the design, supply, installation and validation of pharmaceutical testing systems for the pharmaceutical industry.
Since 2005, through its subsidiary SOTAX PHARMA SERVICES, the company has further strengthened its position by developing a strategic activity focused on analytical method development, routine analytical testing and complex dissolution testing, all carried out in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
A new facility to support business growth
Currently located near Orléans in a 1,300 sq m building leased from the Loiret Departmental Council, which has become too small for its growing activities, SOTAX PHARMA SERVICES has entrusted IDEC SANTÉ with the turnkey design and construction of a new 2,900 sq m facility on a 13,500 sq m site.
The new facility has been designed to support the company’s growth over the coming years while bringing together all of its pharmaceutical activities within a permanent, functional site that reflects its expertise.
A tailor-made design by IDEC SANTÉ
Designed by IDEC SANTÉ and its in-house specialists, the project will include 1,300 sq m of laboratories, storage areas, a reception area and more than 1,100 sq m of office space on the upper floor.
An 80-space car park will complete the development, which has been designed with an attractive architectural identity, providing an optimal working environment for SOTAX PHARMA SERVICES’ teams while anticipating the future evolution of the company’s activities.
A sustainable project driven by an ambitious energy strategy
Committed to an ambitious environmental approach, this laboratory building will incorporate a rooftop photovoltaic installation as well as photovoltaic car park canopies, which will be installed following completion of the project.
This low-carbon energy solution will be delivered by GROUPE IDEC ENR SOLAR, illustrating GROUPE IDEC’s ability to bring together the expertise of several of its subsidiaries on a single project.
In addition, a Building Management System (BMS) will ensure enhanced energy management and optimisation of the facility.
Construction officially underway
The symbolic laying of the foundation stone for this pharmaceutical laboratory in Saran, attended by SOTAX PHARMA SERVICES employees, IDEC SANTÉ teams and the various project stakeholders, officially marked the start of construction.
IDEC SANTÉ is already carrying out the earthworks and infrastructure works (roads and utilities).
A total of 14 months will be required to deliver this 2,900 sq m facility, designed by IDEC SANTÉ, with completion scheduled for autumn 2026.
