IDEC SANTÉ is currently working with the pharmaceutical laboratory CHIESI on completely overhauling its industrial site located in La Chaussée-Saint-Victor (41). With a few weeks to go before the first deliveries are made, check out the progress of the construction site for this 7,500 m² facility, which will produce high-tech metered dose inhalers.
A 50 MILLION EURO INVESTMENT (BUILDING + PROCESS)
CHIESI, a family-owned pharmaceutical laboratory that has been operating in France for more than 25 years, is renowned for its research, development, production and distribution of medicines related more specifically to respiratory pathologies as well as to neonatology, transplantation and rare diseases. To secure the supply of medicines to its markets and to respond to the development of its activity focused on aerosol and powder inhalers, CHIESI has once again placed its trust in IDEC SANTÉ to upgrade its only French plant based near Blois through an investment of nearly 50 million euros.
EXTENSION AND RENOVATION OF AN INDUSTRIAL SITE
The work for this project, which began at the end of 2019, focuses on a 5,600-m² extension to the CHIESI plant that is already very familiar to IDEC SANTÉ’s teams, as they have already worked on the site twice since 2007, notably with the delivery of a 5,580-m² production area in 2015. In addition to this extension, the redevelopment of a 1,900 m² production area is also planned, as well as the renovation and extension of social premises and a cafeteria. Achieving pharmaceutical SAT/QI/QO qualifications, the targeted LEED environmental certification, as well as producing all of the supervision and automation systems for the site, also fall within the scope of IDEC SANTÉ.
A 100% BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING) PROJECT
To assist their client in the best possible conditions, IDEC SANTÉ’s teams have used rigorous BIM methodology to achieve a sophisticated design, optimal integration of the process and technical work packages, together with streamlined construction and simplified operation. The design, construction and production start-up will be optimized by using the 3D model that incorporates all the data and parameters for this industrial project.
FIRST DELIVERIES AT THE END OF APRIL
The construction of this project is taking place on an operational site with a high level of activity, which requires very specific organization. Work is progressing at a fast pace to ensure that the first areas can be put into production swiftly. The 5,600 m² extension, which includes a multi-temperature storage area and a 3,000 m² production unit, mainly classified ISO 8, will be delivered at the end of April. The work will then focus on obtaining the various qualifications, remodeling the existing areas and extending the social facilities and cafeteria. Final delivery of this ambitious project is scheduled for the end of 2022.
